MAKKAH: The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has launched a comprehensive plan to ensure the safety and comfort of Umrah performers at the Grand Mosque during the rainy season. The initiative includes deploying over 1,000 employees and providing essential equipment. Key measures involve removing carpets from open prayer areas, installing non-slip walkways, and preparing the mosque for emergencies. Electrical systems are being secured by isolating power from vulnerable equipment, and escalators are temporarily suspended as a precaution.Specialized teams are also working to drain rainwater and dry the mataf (circumambulation area), ensuring safe movement for visitors and preparing the site promptly for Umrah rituals. The plan highlights the commitment to providing a safe and welcoming environment for worshippers during changing weather conditions.
